How much braces cost in Ho Chi Minh City in 2026: prices and what comes with them

Prices for metal, ceramic and clear-aligner braces, plus the fees people forget. Sources and check date at the end, updated 4 Oct 2026.

In Ho Chi Minh City in 2026, metal braces are usually quoted at about 25 to 45 million VND for both arches, ceramic braces at about 38 to 70 million VND, and clear aligners at about 40 to 130 million VND depending on the brand. Those ranges come from three articles on Medpro, a Vietnamese booking portal (dated 25 September, 26 September and 8 June 2026), which we reread on 5 October 2026. At An Nhiên Dental, metal braces start from 28,000,000 VND for the whole treatment, final after the exam, under the price list dated 4 October 2026.

If you are used to orthodontic prices at home, two things will look different here. Prices are quoted for the whole treatment rather than per visit, and what “whole treatment” includes varies from clinic to clinic. This article separates the two: prices by method, then each item that sits inside or outside the package.

Braces prices in 2026, by method

The “local range” column is what the reference pages give for both arches, with the date printed on the page. The “An Nhiên from” column is where our price list starts, not a quote for your teeth.

Method Local range in HCMC (source, page date) An Nhiên from, final after the exam Not included
Standard metal brackets 25 to 45 million (Medpro, 26/09/2026); 25 to 50 million (Medpro, 25/09/2026) from 28,000,000 VND Extractions, orthodontic screws, replacement retainers
Self-ligating metal 35 to 55 million (Medpro, 26/09/2026) from 40,000,000 VND Extractions, orthodontic screws, replacement retainers
Standard ceramic brackets 38 to 70 million, ceramic and sapphire together (Medpro, 25/09/2026) from 42,000,000 VND Extractions, orthodontic screws, replacement retainers
Self-ligating ceramic 50 to 58 million (Znews, 05/09/2019, an old figure) from 52,000,000 VND Extractions, orthodontic screws, replacement retainers
Clear aligners, Asian brands 40 to 70 million by brand (Medpro, 08/06/2026) from 45,000,000 VND Extractions, extra trays beyond the plan, replacement retainers
Invisalign 80 to 130 million (Medpro, 08/06/2026) from 85,000,000 VND Extractions, extra trays beyond the plan, replacement retainers
Lingual braces (behind the teeth) 80 to 125 million (Medpro, 26/09/2026) Not on our price list Not applicable

Starting prices under the price list updated 4 October 2026. The final price is set in writing after the dentist’s exam.

A few notes on the table:

  • Self-ligating brackets hold the archwire with a small sliding door instead of elastic ties. Medpro says they cost more because of that built-in clip.
  • The Znews figures are from 2019 (metal 27 to 35 million and Invisalign 100 to 120 million at the time). We use them only for self-ligating ceramic because we could not open a newer source for that line.
  • We do not offer lingual braces. If that is what you need, we will say so at the consultation.

Prices are in dong only. We do not convert to other currencies because the exchange rate moves. The full list for all ten services, with a “not included” column, is on our price list.

Why the same method can cost very different amounts

Two people can both be quoted for metal braces, one at 28 million and one at 40 million. Usually it comes down to four things:

  1. How far the teeth and bite are out of line. Mild crowding takes less work than a large overjet or a reverse bite. The 2019 Znews article gives an example for metal braces: 27 million for a mild case, 31 to 35 million for severe protrusion.
  2. Extractions or screws. Medpro (26/09/2026) lists extractions, mini-implants and treating other dental problems as costs that may be added.
  3. Brand and tray count, for aligners. Medpro (08/06/2026) gives 14 to 20 trays for mild cases and 40 to 50 or more for complex ones.
  4. What “whole treatment” covers. Two quotes with the same total can differ on X-rays, retainers and the number of review visits.

So any figure online, including ours, tells you where prices begin. A dentist can only estimate your total after an exam, X-rays and a scan or impressions.

What “whole treatment” means, and what to ask

At An Nhiên, the braces price covers the whole treatment. It includes:

  • The exam, X-rays, and a scan or impressions for planning.
  • The appliances: brackets and wires, or the planned set of aligners.
  • Review visits for the length of treatment.
  • One set of retainers (the appliance you wear after braces to hold teeth in their new place).

Whatever clinic you are comparing, you can go through that list line by line and ask: “Is this included? If not, what does it cost from?” A clear quote answers in writing.

Five items that often sit outside the package

  1. Extractions, if the dentist advises them to make space.
  2. Orthodontic screws (mini-screws: small temporary screws placed in the jawbone as an anchor).
  3. Treating other teeth first: cleaning, fillings, root canal treatment.
  4. Replacing a lost or broken retainer.
  5. Extra aligner trays beyond the plan.

At An Nhiên, the first four are in the “not included” column of the braces price list, and the fifth is in the “not included” column of the clear aligners page. Each item, and the question to ask about it, is in extra costs of braces.

How long braces take, and how often you come in

We do not publish one number of months for everyone. The dentist estimates your timeline after taking impressions and reading your X-rays.

For a rough picture, here are two overseas sources. They are not an estimate for you:

  • The NHS (the UK’s public health service) says braces usually stay on for 1 to 2 years, with a visit every 6 to 8 weeks for adjustment.
  • Cleveland Clinic (USA) says treatment takes about two years on average, from under 12 months to 3 years depending on the case.

Medpro (26/09/2026) gives review intervals of 4 to 6 weeks for standard metal brackets and 6 to 8 weeks for self-ligating ones.

On how it feels: teeth can be sore for a few days after the braces go on and after adjustments. The NHS suggests soft food and, if needed, painkillers for those first days, and contacting the orthodontist if soreness lasts more than a few days. Everyone is different; at each visit the dentist asks how you feel before carrying on.

Choosing by situation: an example

An illustrative case for this demo site; the person and figures are made up. It is not a patient review and does not describe a treatment result.

Ms Lương Bảo Châu is 33 and works office hours in the Phú Nhuận area (former district). She wants braces but does not want brackets on show in client meetings. Her budget is about 40 to 50 million VND, and she is comparing ceramic braces with clear aligners.

From our price list:

Option From, final after the exam What she should weigh
Standard ceramic brackets from 42,000,000 VND Fixed in place, nothing to remember; close to tooth colour, but the wire still shows
Clear aligners, Asian brands from 45,000,000 VND Taken out to eat; must be worn enough hours each day; not every case can be treated with aligners

Starting prices under the price list updated 4 October 2026. The final price is set in writing after the dentist’s exam.

Both starting prices are inside her budget. But they are starting points. If she needs extractions or screws, the total could go past 50 million. Only an exam will tell.

Two questions she could bring to the consultation:

  1. “Does the whole-treatment quote include retainers, and if I need extractions, how are they charged?”
  2. “For my teeth, can aligners work, or do you think brackets suit me better, and why?”

The two bracket types are compared in metal or ceramic braces; who aligners suit, and who they do not, is in clear aligners explained.

Paying in instalments

According to Medpro (updated 15/07/2026), people in Vietnam usually pay about 30% up front and spread the rest over 12 to 24 months, with promotional interest going down to 0% depending on the plan; application fees, loan insurance and conversion fees are worth asking about.

An Nhiên offers two plans for treatment of 10,000,000 VND or more:

  • Staged payment at the clinic: 30% when the written plan is agreed, the rest in equal parts by treatment stage over up to 12 months, no interest, no application fee.
  • Linked credit card: 0% over 6, 9 or 12 months if the bank approves; any conversion fee is set by the bank, and the clinic adds none.

For example, on the 42,000,000 VND starting price for ceramic braces, staged over 12 months: 12,600,000 VND up front, then 2,450,000 VND a month. That is arithmetic on a starting price; the real figure is calculated on your quote after the exam.

An estimate, not a credit offer. The bank or finance company sets interest, fees and limit.

You can enter your own total in the payment calculator. Braces payment plans explains what “0%” usually comes with and what to ask before signing.

When to get a second opinion

Asking a second orthodontist is normal, especially for treatment that runs for many months. It is worth considering when:

  • The quote is a single number, with nothing on what is and is not included.
  • You are advised to have extractions or screws without the reason being shown on your X-rays.
  • The plan does not say which dentist will follow you through treatment.
  • You are pushed to sign at the first visit.

Bring your X-rays and the earlier quote so the second dentist can look at them. Our written quotes are valid for 30 days, so you have time to ask around.

If you live in Vietnam on a contract and may move before treatment ends, say so at the first visit. Ask how the plan, your records and the remaining payments would be handled if you leave part way through, and get the answer in writing with the quote.

How we do it at An Nhiên

  • Who you see: Dr Võ Thanh Tùng, ThS.BS (a medical doctor who also holds a master’s degree), orthodontics with brackets and clear aligners, 14 years in practice, practising licence no. 000063/HCM-GPHN (fictional). Dr Tùng sees patients on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and can explain in English. See Dr Tùng’s profile.
  • First visit: a 45-minute exam and consultation. The first exam and consultation cost nothing. Dr Tùng draws your treatment plan on paper and gives you a copy.
  • The quote: in writing, with what is and is not included, valid for 30 days.
  • Deposit: when braces start, 20% of the quote, at most 5,000,000 VND, credited to the bill; refunded if the clinic changes the date or you cancel more than 48 hours ahead.
  • Service pages: braces, with sub-pages for metal, ceramic and clear aligners.

If you would like to sit down with Dr Tùng and look at your own teeth, you can book an exam. The clinic phones to confirm within 2 working hours.
