What happens in the chair
- Exam and consultation45-minute examThe dentist checks your teeth and bite, tells you whether metal brackets suit your case, and compares them with ceramic brackets and aligners for your situation.
- X-rays and impressionsX-rays, photos, and impressions or a scan. The dentist draws the plan on paper, notes whether extractions or screws are needed, and gives you a copy.
- Fitting the bracketsA bracket is bonded to each tooth, then the archwire is threaded through. For a few days teeth may ache when chewing and brackets may rub your cheek; wax helps.
- Wire adjustmentsAt each review the dentist changes or adjusts the wire and checks cleaning around the brackets. Teeth may feel tight for a day or two after. Reviews are included.
- Removal and retainersThe dentist removes the brackets, cleans off the adhesive, takes impressions and gives you one set of retainers. Wear them as instructed to hold teeth in their new position.
Who it suits, and who should look at other options
Metal brackets suit people who want the lowest cost among the methods we offer and do not mind brackets showing when they talk. Teenagers, students and working adults can all have them.
If your work means speaking in front of people and visible brackets bother you, look at ceramic brackets or clear aligners as well. Standard metal brackets start from 28,000,000 VND for the whole treatment on the price list of 4 October 2026, final after the exam. Self-ligating brackets have a higher starting price, shown in the table above. The final figure depends on how complex your bite is, whether extractions or orthodontic screws are needed, and the estimated length of treatment. The written quote lists each item, so you can compare it line by line with any other quote you have.
What is not included
Extractions, orthodontic screws (mini-screws), treating other teeth before braces, and replacing lost or broken retainers are not part of the whole-treatment price. Extra costs of braces lists each item and the question to ask about it. When you start, the clinic takes a deposit of 20% of the quote, at most 5,000,000 VND, credited to the bill. How long it takes, and how many visits
The first visit is a 45-minute exam and consultation. Then come a records visit, the fitting, review visits for wire adjustments as scheduled, and the removal visit. Total treatment time differs from person to person; the dentist estimates it after impressions and writes it into the plan, and does not promise a figure before examining you. How do self-ligating brackets differ from standard ones?
Self-ligating brackets hold the wire with a sliding clip, so there are no elastic ties around each bracket and fewer places for food to collect. They cost more. Treatment time still depends on your bite; the dentist estimates it after impressions.
Can I eat normally with brackets?
Yes, but avoid very hard or very sticky food, which can knock off a bracket or bend the wire. The dentist gives you a specific list at the fitting.
What if a bracket comes off?
Phone the clinic to book a repair. If the wire is poking your cheek, press a little orthodontic wax over it until your appointment.
