Whitening: at home from 1,200,000 VND, in clinic from 2,500,000 VND
There are two ways to whiten: take-home trays, or a 90-minute session in the clinic. Take-home trays start from 1,200,000 VND, final after the exam. The shade you end up with varies from person to person, teeth may feel sensitive for a while, and whitening does not change the colour of crowns or fillings.

What happens in the chair
- Exam before whiteningThe dentist checks for decay, gum problems, tartar, and fillings or crowns on the front teeth, and records your current shade. If cleaning or a filling is needed first, they say so.
- Choosing a methodThe dentist explains take-home trays and in-clinic whitening, the sensitivity you may feel, and which areas will not change colour, so you can choose.
- In-clinic whitening90-minute sessionYour gums are covered for protection and the whitening gel is applied in several rounds. You may feel sharp sensitivity at times; tell the dentist and they pause or stop.
- Or take-home traysThe dentist takes impressions to make trays for your teeth, shows you how much gel to use and how long to wear them, and books a check.
- Shade checkThe dentist compares the shade with the start, asks about sensitivity, and advises how to keep the colour, such as limiting dark drinks for the first few days.
Who it suits, and who should not whiten
Whitening suits natural teeth that have yellowed with age or from food and drink, when teeth and gums are healthy. The dentist examines you first: decay, inflamed gums, exposed roots or teeth that are already very sensitive are usually treated first, or the dentist advises against whitening for now.
If your front teeth have crowns or large fillings, whitening will not change their colour. Discolouration from inside the tooth, such as a tooth whose nerve has died, may not respond as you would hope. Other common questions about sensations and cost are on the FAQ page.
What affects the price
Take-home trays start from 1,200,000 VND on the price list of 4 October 2026, final after the exam; in-clinic whitening has its own starting price in the table above. The final figure depends on the method, the number of gel rounds, and whether extra trays are needed. The dentist tells you the price before starting, and writes down what is and is not included. If you have a lot of tartar, a cleaning first is advisable; it is charged separately.
What is not included
Whitening does not change the colour of existing crowns or fillings, and replacing them to match is not part of the price. Cleaning or fillings needed before whitening are quoted separately. For in-clinic whitening, the clinic takes a deposit of 20% of the quote when you book the session, credited to the bill and refunded if you cancel more than 48 hours ahead.
Who does it
Dr Phạm Ngọc Diệp, BS.CKI (specialist level I, a postgraduate clinical qualification in Vietnam), general and cosmetic dentistry, 12 years in practice, practising licence no. 000052/HCM-GPHN (fictional). She works Monday to Saturday, explains in Vietnamese, and starts each visit by asking what worries you. See Dr Diệp’s profile.
How long it takes, and how many visits
In-clinic whitening is one 90-minute session after the exam. Take-home trays need one visit for impressions and one to collect the trays; you then wear them at home as instructed and return for a shade check as scheduled. You can book with Dr Diệp. The clinic phones to confirm within 2 working hours.

Questions about this service
Does whitening damage enamel?
Whitening uses a gel applied to the tooth surface; it does not grind the teeth. Teeth can feel sensitive during and after whitening. The dentist examines you first to see whether whitening is advisable for you.
How long does the colour last?
It varies with diet, smoking and how you look after your teeth. We do not promise a particular shade or how long it will last.
Can I whiten if my front teeth have crowns?
The gel does not change the colour of crowns or fillings. After whitening they may no longer match your natural teeth; the dentist tells you this beforehand and discusses options if you want them to match.
