Scaling and polishing, from 300,000 VND
Scaling and polishing of both arches takes 45 minutes and starts from 300,000 VND, final after the exam because it depends on how much tartar there is and the state of your gums. The dentist checks your gums first. If you need gum treatment, they say so and quote it before doing anything more.

- Gum treatment if gum disease is found
What happens in the chair
- Gum checkWithin the 45-minute visitThe dentist looks at your gums, measures a few spots with a probe and asks whether they bleed when you brush. If gum treatment is needed first, they explain and quote it.
- Ultrasonic scalingA vibrating tip with a water spray lifts tartar off the teeth. Inflamed gums or exposed roots may feel sensitive. Raise a hand and the dentist stops; local anaesthetic is possible.
- PolishingThe dentist polishes the tooth surfaces to remove stains and the rough patches left after scaling.
- Advice and next visitThe dentist shows you the spots your brush misses, how to use floss or interdental brushes, and when to come back based on your gums.
Who it suits, and who should be examined first
A cleaning suits people with tartar on the inside of the lower front teeth or around the gum line, people whose gums bleed when they brush, and anyone about to start braces, whitening or crowns. A dentist usually wants clean tooth surfaces before any of those.
If your gums are very swollen, a tooth feels loose, or another clinic has told you that you have gum disease, a routine cleaning may not be enough. The dentist examines you first and tells you plainly if you need a separate gum treatment plan. If you are in severe pain or your face is swollen, phone rather than waiting for a booked slot.
What affects the price
Scaling and polishing of both arches starts from 300,000 VND on the price list of 4 October 2026, final after the exam. The final figure depends on how much tartar there is, whether it sits above or below the gum line, and how long it takes to clear. The dentist tells you the price before starting, not afterwards. Related prices are on the price list.
What is not included
Treatment for gum disease, if it is found, is not part of the cleaning price. If an X-ray is needed to look at the bone around the roots, it is charged separately. A cavity found during the visit is quoted on its own and filled at another visit if you agree.
Who does it
Two dentists offer cleaning. Dr Phạm Ngọc Diệp, BS.CKI (specialist level I, a postgraduate clinical qualification in Vietnam), general and cosmetic dentistry, 12 years in practice, practising licence no. 000052/HCM-GPHN (fictional), works Monday to Saturday. See Dr Diệp’s profile. Dr Trần Hà My, BS.CKI, 10 years in practice, licence no. 000074/HCM-GPHN (fictional), works Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Both explain in Vietnamese.
Why there is no single cleaning interval for everyone is explained in how often to get your teeth cleaned.
How long it takes
Usually one 45-minute visit for both arches. When there is a lot of tartar deep under the gums, the dentist may split it into two visits so your jaw can rest and your gums can settle; you are told this in advance, with the price. You can go back to work and eat normally afterwards; avoid very cold food and drinks if your teeth feel sensitive.
You can book a cleaning with Dr Diệp or Dr Hà My. The clinic phones to confirm within 2 working hours.

Questions about this service
How often should I have my teeth cleaned?
There is no single number that fits everyone. The dentist sets your next visit by how quickly tartar builds up and how your gums look, and writes it on your appointment card.
Will my teeth feel sensitive afterwards?
They may. Some people notice sensitivity to cold or slight gum bleeding for a day or two. If bleeding will not stop, or you have swelling or fever, phone 0963 929 241 in opening hours; out of hours call 115.
Is a deposit needed?
No. Cleaning needs no deposit, and you can change or cancel free of charge up to 12 hours before.
My teeth look more gappy after cleaning. Is that normal?
Tartar that has built up over time can fill the spaces between teeth; once it is removed the gaps show. If you are unsure, ask the dentist to show you in the mirror during the visit.
