What happens in the chair
- Exam and CT scan45-minute examThe dentist examines the gap, asks about health conditions and medicines, takes a Cone Beam CT (a 3D image of the jawbone) and goes through it with you before quoting.
- Written plan and quoteThe quote lists post, abutment, crown, any bone graft, scans and medicines separately. When you agree, the clinic takes a deposit of 20% of the quote, at most 5,000,000 VND, credited to the bill.
- Placing the postYou get a local anaesthetic in the surgery room. The dentist asks how you feel and stops when you ask. Swelling and tenderness for a few days are possible; you get written aftercare.
- Healing into the boneUsually 2 to 6 monthsThe post needs time to bond with the jawbone. You come for reviews so the dentist can check healing and how stable the post is.
- Abutment and crownThe dentist takes impressions, the lab makes the crown, then the abutment and crown are fitted and the bite adjusted. Your post warranty card is handed over at this visit.
Who it suits, and when another option may fit better
An implant is considered when you have lost one or a few teeth and the jawbone there is still enough, or can be built up, to hold a post. Bone often shrinks where a tooth has been missing for years; only a CT scan shows how much is left.
Not everyone should have a post placed straight away. The dentist asks about conditions you are being treated for, medicines you take, and smoking. For some health conditions they may advise waiting, or a bridge or removable denture instead. These are options to weigh together; no single choice suits everyone. How long it takes
The first visit is a 45-minute exam and consultation. From placing the post to fitting the crown usually takes 2 to 6 months, depending on your bone and the type of restoration; a bone graft can add time. Does the quote include the crown on top?
No. The post price includes the abutment but not the crown on the implant, the CT scan, or a bone graft or sinus lift if needed. Each is a separate line in the quote.
What if I do not have enough bone?
The dentist can see this on the CT. You may need a bone graft or sinus lift before or at the same time as the post; the price and extra healing time go into the quote before you decide.
What warranty does the post carry?
The post has a 10-year warranty on the manufacturer's terms, provided you come for a review every 6 months. It covers materials and workmanship, not a biological outcome; injury and new disease are not covered.
Can I pay in stages?
Yes, for treatment from 10,000,000 VND: staged payment at the clinic (30% when the plan is agreed, the rest over up to 12 months, no interest), or a linked credit card if the bank approves.
